WHEN WAS YOUR BRAND FOUNDED?
2009
WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASON’S COLLECTION?
For this season I am working with ASPPUK and TFCA, two organizations in Indonesia that work with Indonesian weavers in the small Indonesian village of Kapuas Hulu, Kalimantan. We work together to assist the weavers in using natural dye from natural resources to make eco-friendly fashion products.
We also work closely with Gallery of Indonesia, who supports us in promoting Indonesian traditional fabric with a mission to preserve Indonesian traditions and help increase the economy of the weavers who live in small villages.
My collections use Indonesian traditional ikat fabric: Tenun Dayak from Kalimantan, Songket from Sumatra, and Noken from Papua. Women weavers in small villages make all the fabrics. I dedicate my collection to them—it is a celebration of their hard work and passion.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED FOR THIS SEASON’S COLLECTION?
Indonesian woven fabrics: Tenun Dayak, Tenun Songket, Noken. Lace, taffeta, beads, Swarovski crystals, and bolder flower.
WHERE ARE YOUR MATERIALS SOURCED AND YOUR GARMENTS MANUFACTURED?
Indonesia.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
Jakarta, Indonesia
WHERE DOES YOUR LINE CURRENTLY RETAIL?
Currently in Jakarta, Indonesia (Alun Alun Indonesia and The Armoire Cabinet). We look forward to expanding our brand and products by partnering with Gallery of Indonesia, who will promote our Indonesian traditional products in the US. Our products will be available in Gallery of Indonesia’s online store by end of this year.
